Earrings for humans are a fancy piece of jewelry, but they are not worn for a lifetime without replacing them. However, we select them based on design, appearance, maintenance, and quality materials to avoid infections or injury. Exactly the same reasoning should be taken into account when it comes to choosing ear tags for livestock marking or a research project.

Rigidtag® Quality:
The design of the Rigidtag® ear tags is based on 4 main axes, which aim at the requirements of long term marking & their easy, loss-free application.
1. Εasy to Use: The cross-sections of the male & female parts were designed to ensure ease of application and tissue piercing, without affecting the retention rates of the applied ear tags.
2. Effortless encapsulatioη: Due to the solid pyre and the adapted surfaces it penetrates, no strain or “hidden” damage to the ear tags is caused which will lead to its loss, after some time after its application.
3. Leak-proof male-female connection: After applying an Rigidtag® ear tag, it is impossible to remove without completely destroying the ear tag or causing serious damage to an animal’s ear or flap.
4. Permanent print: By the hot embossing method (Hot Foil). This is an expensive printing method but due to the satisfactory thickness (2mm) of the Rigidtag®, is the ideal solution for visual marking, because it presses the number deep into the tag, thus leaving a raised and deep mark with a lifetime of more than 5 years The aluminum foil can leave a black, white or silver tint on the number, thus ensuring high visibility in any tag color contrast.
Printing Quality:
In last decades, Laser printing has been the most widespread method. After many years of use, it has been proven that this method is suitable for large-area prints (cattle ear tags). On smaller printing surfaces, the Laser method is disadvantageous because the visibility of the printing elements is reduced and it is additionally affected by the graying – fading of the TPU ear tags over time.
For the above reasons the livestock marking industry, seeks alternative printing methods in order to improve the visibility and lifetime of visual marking.
