The first DLS® I.D. concept started in 2021 with the aim of providing reliable means of Visual Marking the main part of which was the lifetime of the products during their use. Focusing exclusively to the long term of the tags and after many years of experience in animal marking, the DLS® I.D. developed the Project for the construction of the ear tag family RIGIDTAG® and consists of the sizes JUMBO & GOLIATH RIGIDTAG®.

The production of the ear tags RIGIDTAG® started in 2023, made of 100% high quality nylon with additives, to improve their resistance to discoloration, the degradation of their characteristics in animal – extreme environments and in High Pressure conditions during their application.
The roots of RIGIDTAG® ear tags & applicators come from the U.K. and are the continuation of DALTON® JUMBOTAG & JUMBO GOLIATH, whose availability has now been discontinued. The DALTON® were the first self-pierced ear tags in the world, which were patented in the 1950s in the U.K. The DALTON® experience until to 2010, demonstrated that these specific types of ear tags recorded the highest retention rates during their use, regardless of environment & conditions. Following the same experience with precise redesign, the improvement of high-pressure points and with different brand names, the RIGIDTAG® ear tags came to cope with the most difficult conditions of livestock Visual Marking.
The combination of ear tags Rigidtag® with Hot Foil printing has in the past ensured the maximum lifetime in the field of Livestock Visual Marking in extreme animal environments. With the Hot Foil printing even if the surface of a tag has wear, due to the depth of the mark will remain there. This wear is observed in all types of ear tags and is usually caused by friction on the outside of an ear or flap.
Before any type of Rigidtag® was circulate to the market, an extensive series of tests and research was conducted. Beyond the design research of the manufacturing structure of the products, for 2 years practical tests with cooperating farms followed and continue to this day thus giving the Dls®, the possibility continuous monitoring of product Rigidtag®. The tests are carried out on all sizes of Rigidtag® in different species and ages of animals, on basic recording items such as ease of application, the life time of the label, printing, etc.
